Gesichter der Friedlichen Revolution
Photographs by Dirk Vogel
Robert-Havemann-Gesellschaft, Berlin 2011, € 19.80
(ISBN 978-3-938857-10-6)

Twenty years after the 1989 revolution, the Dortmund-based photographer Dirk Vogel shot portraits of 63 individuals with his 35mm Leica camera. Who were the women and men who took action for peace, human rights, freedom and democracy in the GDR and helped launch the Peaceful Revolution? Many of them are now unknown to the general public or have been forgotten.

Dirk Vogel’s portraits are accompanied in the book by biographical texts by various authors and an essay by Claudia Rusch.

The book is available via the Robert Havemann Society: Tel. +49 (0)30 447 108-21 or info(at) For further publications, see Robert Havemann Society.
